operation 30 day shred. [day one]

So, i'm overweight, plus sized, big bonedfat. just throwing it out there. i have been, and was waaaaaay before vegas came along. i was looking through old medical records the other day and i saw that when i went to the doctor to get a physical in the 8th grade i weighed 163 pounds.... still overweight, especially for a 13 year old. i have not always been a fatty, i mean, i'm sure i didn't come out of my mother overweight. sad thing is, i honestly cannot remember when i wore a pair of jeans that had a single digit sewn in the seam. i have always been  pretty comfortable with my weight because i personally think i carry it well, but after having vegas my body seemed to morph into this weird and inconsistent shell. vegas was worth any hardship my body went through, but i will simply not let it succumb to the trenches of motherhood.

i'm only ten pounds away from my pre pregnancy weight - i consider myself lucky in that sense.

one thing i have always been self conscious about was the number on the scale. i dreaded even letting cj know what i actually weighed. all of that is flying out the window today. i'm going to let friends, family and complete strangers know that i weigh 209 pounds. yep. i NEED to put it out there so i can try to stay on my path to losing weight. i'm not trying to be a mcskinny, but i just want to be healthy, for my family, my husband and especially for my daughter.

[enter the 30 day shred]

my first mini goal is 10 pounds by the end of the month. obviously the shred is not all i need, but its a start - small steps people, small steps.

i popped in jillian michaels and almost went blind looking at her dog face, but i have heard millions of praises from people about this dvd. i started on level one [minus the hand weights, because dumb me didn't know i needed them], and quickly realized that i cannot even do real people push ups, i had to do the girly-knees-on-the-floor ones that made me feel even more out of shape. the workout was intense for me seeing as my abs have not seen a crunch in nearly a year, and i was sweating worse than ruban studdard on the american idol stage. i'm hoping to up the intensity tomorrow with some weights, and i plan to do a weigh in next sunday.... so.... we will see how this all goes.

i will post my findings for all who are interested and of course the cutie pictures of miss vegas will still be in abundance, no worries.

xoxo from crystal and her four chins.

  1. i've never done the 30ds but i too have heard great things about it. just make sure to stick to it even if you dont lose 10 lbs - but i'm sure you can. losing weight slowly is better than dropping it all right away (it took me 1 year to lose the 20 lbs i wanted to lose, but it's stayed off!) you do carry your weight well, never would have guessed. good luck and keep us posted.

  2. I did the 30 day shred with my husband for um, 4 days. It's HARD! Stick with it though, because I know a lot of girls have lost weight and toned up fast doing this workout. Good luck, and can't wait to see the results!

  3. Good Luck girl. You can do it. I did 10 min of this workout and it was good and I should have sticked with it. I am starting back on my exercise routine.

    You can do it!!

  4. I hear your "pain". I had my little angle almost 7 weeks ago and I am still 20 lbs over my prepreg weight making me come in at 211 currently! I have always been pretty comfortable with my weight... luckily I am 5'11 so I can carry it pretty well... but this pregnancy thing really effects you! I relate to how you never wanted your husband to know too... once my husband guessed my weight and was right on! It made me feel horrible... but now I am accepting it better. ... anyways, way to go and good luck! I am eager to see how you do with this dvd! I might have to run out to get it as I am 3 weeks away from returning to work and none of my work clothes fit! :(

  5. Good Luck!! I have been running 2-3.5 miles about 3-4 days per week since Aug. Lost 26lbs but still can't tell. This video looks interesting, might try it to get thru the winter months. Too cold to be running outside and hate the gym. Can't wait to see your accomplishments.

  6. That biotch tortured me for about a week, way back when (i could breath normally). You're gonna be hurting tomorrow, things are going to hurt that you didn't even know you had. Best of luck to you. I'll be right behind in about 2 months.

  7. Oh my, I am on day eight and doing the intermediate one- KICKING MY ASS I am so sore, all the time. But I hope it is worth it. I am also 10lbs from my pre-preg weight and want to get it off soon. And then some. Ugh to weight loss, I hate it but its becoming a necessary evil. Can't wait to follow along with you.

  9. Good luck!! 30DS is super tough, but you'll definitely get results if you can stick with it. I've done it twice (the whole 30 day program) and it always kicks my butt, but I get amazing results. And if it makes you feel any better, I work out for about 1 hr, 15 minutes, 5 days a week, cardio and weights, and I can't do a real push up either!

  10. I'm on week 2 of 2hrs of intense cardio 4 to 5 days a week and I commend you my dear. No way could I hang with the 30 day shred. My 2 hours is a straight nonstop heart rate in your throat kinda thing...but I love how I feel afterward. Maybe I'll be able to do the dog face dvd in a few weeks without feeling like i'm gonna DIE.
